
See up close the rock formations that inspired James Hutton to re-think the formation of the Earth and kickstart the science of geology!
The southern section of the Radical Road will be open each day, giving access to Hutton’s Section and Hutton’s Rock. There will be HES rangers on duty. You need to book in advance for one-hour slots from Saturday 30 May to Sunday 14 June, 10am to 6pm: Book here.
Duration: 1 hour
Meeting Place: Gates to Radical Road/Hutton’s Section.
Description: Come and see up close the famous rock formations that inspired pioneering geologist, James Hutton, to celebrate the tercentenary of his birth. Rangers will be on hand to provide access and information about how these rock formations inspired Hutton to re-think the age of the world and the processes that shape it.
Age: May not be suitable for children under 8 years.
Grade: Easy
Disabled access: The route is not wheelchair accessible. Please contact us if you have any access requirements and we will do our best to adapt the walk accordingly. Please contact the Ranger Service for more information.
Dogs: Dogs are not permitted except assistance dogs.
