The James Hutton Cycle Trail will be officially opened at the James Hutton and Deep Time exhibition in Cockburnspath Village Hall on

This 51km cycle trail starts and ends at Cockburnspath and links James Hutton’s two farms in Berwickshire with his iconic geological site at Siccar Point. The trail is entirely on public roads and has been developed to coincide with the tercentenary celebrations of Hutton’s birth in 1726. The route skirts the Lammermuir Hills, following river valleys and passing through mixed woodland and farmland before reaching the North Sea coast, with several steep ascents and descents. Leaflets giving full details of the cycle trail and also including information on notable geological features en route will be available on the day.
